If you fix botting you can always attract players to an area if the rewards are good enough. Ghost town=bad rewards, this isn't hard to fix, but first they need to kill the bots.

When Dhuum arrived to kill the bots we all thought that would be an on-going thing to throw these accounts out of the game, seems that the poor wee fella got a bit tired after all that scything and had to go to sleep again for a rest.

The answer is yes, what was the question?

Neither NcSoft nor A'Net seem to care /12 chars

Im almost to the point that I don't care about bots. As long as ANet is incredibly strict about botting in GW2 I will be happy.

Funny that you should say that. just the other day i reported 2 N/A bots via email and got the template reply again. then i log in and see that they are still online. Support should just change their stock reply to "let me put that in my care [box]" cause its closer to the truth

I didnt even bother to report the kurz bots cause there were too many, mostly Mo/mes wastrel spammers with unpronounceable names; at least the lux bots are mostly from the same guild.

How do you distinguish N/A botters from N/A humans?

Well the guild tag is a red flag, if its from the botting guild I'll be immediately suspicious. What I've observed is that they tend to run in the same path, like the one I saw that kept running towards purple. They use signet of agony when there is no enemy nearby, immediately cast contagion and dark aura upon respawning, never talk, and never change their strategies.. even if someone is waiting outside the spawn to gank them they continue in the pre scripted path

i stop playing jq/fa not cause of the botters but the humans. Since it became zcombot every time i went it their was always one flamer in the group. used to be fun to do but not now. least with bots they didnt yell at you if you lagged into a mob and died.

Why am I bothering to play, when so many people are getting away with botting? It's not even one or two per game. It's 5+ and yes, I know a bot when I see one, not making somekind of mistake identifying them.

Even more infuriating, is when I try to report them, I get no confirmation of any kind, when I know there should be. Is it because they're been reported already? If they've been reported already, why are they always there, day after day?

I'm not wasting my time making a report to anet the long manual way, when it seems they're not going to do anything about it anyway. So hopefully enough people will agree here that it's a problem again and it may get noticed.

If anyone has a surefire way of getting this problem noted (again -_-) then please, post below.
Here is the question will anet have the same stance in gw2?

It's hard to say. We don't know why they have this stance now.

If it's a technical issue due to the way GW was made, we can hope they learned from the mistakes and made GW2 better.

But maybe it's something subjective, like "political" decisions and management blunders from higher up.

Or maybe the bots are too cunning. What if they're using compromised machines of regular players to play? I don't see what ANet could do if a piece of malware creeped onto your computer (or your LAN) and started botting from there. Should they ban your IP and be done with it? But you swear you're not botting, yet they see a bot coming from your adress. Maybe it's not your computer, it's your brother's. Maybe you're lying. They have no way of knowing. Maybe that's why they're so "forgiving" of bots right now, because the bots come from the same IP addresses as legit players.

Or maybe the bots are so many that ANet/NCSoft simply don't have the manpower to follow each and every one of them and make sure they're bots.

Maybe it's all of the above, or a combination of some of them.

That's why I suggested they should implement a mini-puzzle that tests if you're really a human every time you login. I don't see other solutions. Even this one is flawed, because the bad guys can hire login monkeys to help bots pass the test.

The only real solution is for people to stop buying gold and accounts from shady sites. That's the reason bots exist and are profitable. But I'm afraid that a decade of email spam has proved that people are too stupid and greedy to do that.

How about changing the map to make it less easily bottable? It's kind of ridiculous how effective bombing and nuking are compared to actual PvP. What if there was a capture point you had to stay on, so that you'd have to defend against real players?

Wait a minute...

So I can't play a bomber build now unless I want to risk my account being banned?

Not that I even enjoy bomber builds over other builds I've found, but sometimes I like to mix it up and bombers are a fun alternative.

honestly i havent seen too many bots, but really cant tell the difference between a na bomber bot and player. its all just pressing 123456 in order anyways.

and what exactly is a botting guild? if there were guilds devoted to botting, im sure anet would just mass ban everyone in them.

To be honest botting has always been present in Guild Wars. Not really going to change in any MMO, player automation is a business that exists outside of the MMO world. (YES THE REAL WORLD OOOooOooOooO)

I really don't know why banning isn't enforced to supreme standards because the more accounts they ban, the more money they make as gold farmers make new accounts. It's all about the money, quasi-unfortunately

botting guild= a guild known to run bots. hint: its one of the largest faction farming guilds. Other pple in my alliance were complaining about them too. One reported seeing 9 players from that guild loading into town..all hexed. Anyway, I dont report just anyone..I observe them over consecutive games to be sure.

Sooo... these are the latest replies from support

Hello,

I was able to find a violation by reviewing the game logs of the incident.

The player's account has been closed.

Thank you for submitting your report and helping keep Guild Wars a fun and safe place to play.

If you complain it gets done, if not you don't. So the idea is to complain as much as possible!

Right but they didn't make a forum thread about it on GWG!

I think it depends on which GM you get, some seem to be more effectual than others

You also have to be really specific about the bots in particular eg.provide name, time, date etc for every single one of them. If you just say there are many bots in JQ, nothing will be done. of all the bots i reported, only one was not banned because of "insufficient evidence". god knows what that evidence is... its bloody obvious to me because he uses the same pathing everytime he respawns, and also casts the same spirits at exactly the same spots.

As a side note, I saw one of the abovementioned accounts botting AGAIN just yesterday..days after the supposed ban. I was aghast. I'd be interested to see what support has to say about this.
